Tahlequah Area Habitat for Humanity held workshops during March to select a Habitat homeowner for 2011. The application period is now closed but will open again in the future.
To qualify you must:
- Be a resident of Cherokee County for at least one year.
- Have steady employment and be able to pay back a 20 year mortgage.
- Be willing to accept a house on a lot owned by TAHFH OR
- Own suitable land for house building that is paid for with clear title.
- Earn less than $24,000 for a family of 4. Larger and smaller families income adjusted accordingly.
- Earn enough to pay back a 20 year mortgage without consuming more than 25% of your income. That amount varies depending on the house size you qualify for.
- Be willing to partner or work closely with TAHFH and help build your house.
